It's been a while

Didn't realise how long it has been since my last post!!!!!

I have been really busy with fashion designing, but I haven't been neglecting the cakes. I have stopped taking photos of the repeat designs that customers have been asking for. All I seem to have made lately are present cakes, Tiffany box cake and iggle piggle cakes. I have attached 2 pics (please ignore the bad quality) of the cakes that I made for my beautiful children's birthdays recently.

This cake is Destiny the pop star fairy from the Rainbow magic series of books. My daughter absolutely adores these books.

I was really struggling for time on this cake and I felt like such a bad mum for not hand modelling Rory, but my son loved the fact that it was a toy on top which he could play with, so it all worked out in the end.
I have also neglected my folksy shop, but I will hopefully be adding lots of gorgeous things in the coming weeks, just in time for (dare I say it) Christmas............. perfect little stocking fillers!!!!!

Competition!!!!!!

How could I have totally forgotton my 1 year blog anniversary!!!!! Well, I had always planned to have a little competition, so, I suppose, it's better late than never ;o)

So, what could I give away?

The obvious choice would be cupcakes. But, as my cupcakes are too delicate to post, I will give away an item of your choice from my Folksy shop. Then, I thought, I could still have cupcakes as a prize, if the winner can collect them.

So, here goes.............

To celebrate Fashion Cake's 1 year blog anniversary, I am pleased to announce a little competition.

The prize - a choice of 1 item that i sell on my Folksy shop OR a 6 cupcake butterfly theme gift box ( collection only, I am based in Leicester)

All you need to do is leave me a comment telling me which you would like to win. It's as simple as that.

Get all your comments in by Tuesday 4th May and I will annouce the winner on the Wednesday

Good luck

It's been a while

Well, it's been quite a while since I have posted anything new. I have been really busy, lot's of designing projects to complete, cake orders thrown in and I had my first wholesale order via my folksy store. So, in all, a busy but lovely few weeks.

This cake was a last minute design so I kept it very simple.

The little boy who this cake was made for loves Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends, but couldn't decide which character to have on his cake. So his parents asked for a cake that would be suitable to place a toy train on to when he had chosen the one he wanted.

During 2010 I am pleased to announce that I am sponsoring the Mums The Boss leicestershire networking meetings. The meetings are held each month and provide child friendly, low cost networking for mum's in business. Have a look at the website for details and if you do fancy popping along you will be able to sample my cupcakes...... ;o)

I had visions of this shimmering and sparkling in the light!! This was for my sister in law who turned 40 and who is the original party animal lol!!! So a glitter ball was the ideal cake. I did leave this to the last minute - decorating it and hour before we had to leave, so it is not as good as I had hoped. But the birthday girl loved it, so, i guess that is all that matters!!!!!

Oh and another thing...... I apologise for the awful photos, they were very last minute......... not that they are any better usually.

Me

Many of you probably wouldn't know, as well as baking I also work in the fashion industry - designing. I have been for the past 15 years.

For the past couple of months I have started to make a few little crafty type things for my 6 year old daughter. I started by making her a colouring wallet which I found on Jcasa blog. Well, she loved it so much and so did her school friends, so I began to make a few more. As all her friends seemed to want them I thought I would try making a few and opening up a Folksy store to see how they would sell.

This is the outside of the wallet.

And inside.
I have made them in fabulous designer fabrics and I really hope you love them as much as me and my daughter do.
Please do take a look and I hope to be adding lots of different products soon.
